Welcome Message from the President

Dear IAGB Community,
It is with immense pride and heartfelt gratitude that I welcome you to the India Association of Greater Boston. As President, I am honored to serve this vibrant and diverse community that continues to celebrate the rich heritage of India while embracing the spirit of unity and progress here in Greater Boston.

IAGB has always stood as a foundation of cultural connection, civic engagement, and community service. Whether through our flagship events like Republic Day, India Day, Discover India Series and Senior Expo, our youth programs, charitable initiatives, or collaborations with local organizations, we strive to create spaces where every voice is heard, and every tradition is honored.

As we look ahead, our mission remains clear: to foster inclusivity, empower future generations, and build bridges across cultures. I invite you to join us as a volunteer, participate, share your ideas, and help shape the future of IAGB. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact.

I’m honored to share that the India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) has elected its new Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term following our Annual General Body Meeting. It’s a privilege to serve as President, alongside a dynamic and dedicated team of community leaders.

Community Organization Spotlight

Name of Organization: Tamil Makkal Mandram (TMM) Inc.

Tamil Makkal Mandram (TMM) is a vibrant, volunteer-driven, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in the New England region.

Founded in 2015 by a group of passionate volunteers, TMM was born out of a shared vision to keep the Tamil language and traditions alive for future generations living abroad.

Over the years, TMM has grown into a recognized community organization that hosts a variety of events including Chithirai Vizha, Deepavali Kondattam, Pongal Vizha, Science Fair, TMM Sports Tournaments, and TMM Care Community Service Projects.

Our mission is to build a strong, inclusive, and engaged Tamil community that:

  • Preserves and promotes Tamil heritage through arts, language, and cultural activities.
  • Empowers youth by creating platforms for talent development, education, and leadership.
  • Encourages community service and philanthropy through TMM Care and charitable initiatives locally and globally.
  • Fosters unity and collaboration among Tamilians across the New England region and beyond.
  • Celebrates diversity and inclusiveness, welcoming all who share a love for Tamil culture and values.

Our vision is to be a model Tamil organization that celebrates heritage, cultivates leadership, and creates a lasting positive impact on society through culture, education, and community service.

Tamil Makkal Mandram (TMM) is a Tamil cultural and charitable organization serving the Greater Boston and New England communities for nearly a decade. Founded by visionary community members to preserve Tamil traditions abroad, TMM has evolved into a cornerstone institution promoting Tamil arts, education, and social responsibility. The organization hosts a wide spectrum of events including youth talent showcases, science fairs, cultural festivals, wellness and knowledge-sharing seminars, and volunteer-driven charity efforts. Through initiatives like TMM Care, TMM partners with local nonprofits, schools, and global relief organizations to extend help to those in need both in the U.S. and in Tamil Nadu. Its focus on nurturing the next generation through youth programs, leadership opportunities, and cultural immersion has strengthened community identity and pride. Guided by values of inclusivity, service, and cultural excellence, Tamil Makkal Mandram continues to connect generations while fostering unity, compassion, and civic engagement among Tamil families across New England.

Last year, we had the pleasure of hosting 700 guests who savored our delicious banana leaf lunch. This year, our goal is to welcome 1000 people to make this celebration even grander!

Parting Message from IAGB President (2023–2025) – Tanu Phoenix

My dearest community,

As I closed my IAGB presidential term on September 30, 2025, my heart is overflowing with gratitude for your trust, love, and support. Serving as President of the India Association of Greater Boston has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Now I am delighted to start my new role as a Trustee of IAGB, carrying forward IAGB’s legacy of cultural pride, community service, and unity spanning over six decades.

At IAGB, integrity takes the spotlight, kindness takes center stage, and love for one another is always the headline act. Together, we have built bridges, honored traditions, and created a safe space where every voice is valued and every culture celebrated.

This journey has been transformative – teaching me that true leadership is not about titles, but about resilience, and selfless service and teamwork.
To my incredible Executive Committee of 2023–2025, THANK YOU for walking this path with me. Through debates and celebrations alike, we served with heart and soul, bound by trust, respect, and a shared passion for community.

  • And most importantly, my Partner in Prime Service to the Community & beyond, my neighborly & nurturing Vice President Nilesh Agrawal.

I am overjoyed that my wonderful colleague Nilesh Agrawal assumed the role of IAGB President starting October 1, 2025. I passed the torch to him with pride, humility, and confidence that under his able leadership, IAGB will continue to soar, celebrating culture, serving the community, and fostering unity.

To the trustees of my term, Late. I will strive to do more for my much loved IAGB Community as a trustee and will forever remain an ambassador & cheerleader of IAGB’s mission.
