Community Conversations – June 2023

To start the summer with a bang, many people turned up for IAGB’s annual 5K Run / Walk with their families and friends. And here’s how they have described their experience as well as about their motivation for fitness activities:

Thanks IAGB for hosting the 5K run/walk event. It was my first 5K run and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was pleasant experience with the inspiring community. I have been strictly focusing on fitness for the last 1 year by hitting gym consistently at least 6 days/week. My friend and I started practicing this new routine together with the goal to get BMI with-in the range and it took around 6 months of consistent efforts. I have been noticing improvements not only physically but mentally as well.

I always look forward to IAGB annual walk/run as it is very well managed. It’s also a good opportunity for socializing and being a part of a good cause. I have participated in this event since last 2 years.  Main attraction for me is always getting to meet with lot of friends. I’m already waiting for the next year’s run in 2024.

This is our 3rd consecutive IAGB 5k run. It gives us immense satisfaction that we are running for a cause. The weather was perfect on the race day & we could feel the energy with all the runners around. Being in the company of young and young at heart is a great way to know that the IAGB is dedicated in its efforts to give back to the community.  We picked up running during pandemic as this gave a good get away from the house and to be part of nature. We both are endurance recreational runners and have done few marathons and half marathons.

It was a great running experience under the pleasant weather, in a nice location (park). The event was well organized with lot of support to runners from the people around. I am especially thankful to Lohith Nagaraj for all his support & encouragement. I usually run half marathons. But my 13 year old daughter wanted to run 5K, so I accompanied her. She & my wife enjoyed it too. Thank you IAGB!

Thanks IAGB for hosting the 5k run/walk event. This is my first 5k run, but I have been paying special focus on fitness since last year, post-Covid. I make sure that I do workout at least 45 minutes/day and I mix it up with running at the gym or park on somedays. This has become my new hobby and I am thoroughly enjoying it, and at the same time it’s improving my health progressively.
