Hello!
At Two Friends, we create unique handcrafted chocolates in nostalgic flavors and charming designs. The business started as a simple means for two best friends to stay connected across the borders. We have come a long way forward from there- From my basement kitchen to our own production studio with a retail chocolate shop and chocolate cafe and supplying our chocolates to over 50 stores across New England- it has been an amazing journey.
The idea of telling our story through our flavors and the opportunity to be a part of our customers’ happy celebrations makes our work beyond worth it.
As a woman in business, it’s often challenging to balance work and personal life- particularly when you start a family and then have a little one who demands your time. Business is a team work and I manage to sail with the great support system in my husband and my now 6 year old son.
My advice to anyone out there thinking of starting a business is as much a hard journey as it is exhilarating. It takes unwavering commitment and focus, and with it you can make anything possible.
Hello!
I run a small business specializing in Paithani sarees and traditional accessories. Paithani sarees are a treasured part of Maharashtra’s heritage, known for their intricate zari work and vibrant colors. What drew me to this field was my deep appreciation for handloom textiles and a desire to preserve and promote this art form. Every saree tells a story of skilled craftsmanship, and I love connecting customers with these beautiful pieces.
Being a woman gives me an innate understanding of what other women look for in a saree—comfort, elegance, and versatility. I pay close attention to details like fabric drape, blouse designs, and styling tips, which helps me guide my customers better. Additionally, I believe I have a strong sense of empathy, which helps me connect with clients on a personal level, whether they’re buying for a wedding or a festive occasion. This blend of tradition, empathy, and personalized service is what makes my business truly special.
Hello!
I run a business that offers hand-embroidered Indian clothing for ladies, men, and kids. I started this venture to promote Indian hand embroidery, particularly Chikankari works from Lucknow, India, during the pandemic. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing the story behind this beautiful traditional craft. You can find me on Instagram @thewesternbharat, but if you want a more interactive experience, I often host live sessions on my Facebook to showcase my clothing.
One of my biggest challenges was finding reliable vendors in India and trustworthy shipping companies. I spent a lot of time reaching out to people in India, asking for recommendations and referrals to find someone whose services I could rely upon. It was an arduous journey, but I eventually connected with some great people who have been instrumental in helping me get my products to the USA.
Since I have a full-time job—as an QA engineer, I wake up early to handle my business tasks. Balancing all my roles can sometimes be a challenge, but by channeling my passion for my business and with support from my family, I can succeed in these roles. My biggest advice to those thinking about whether to start a company would be to go for it. Ventures like this will always be daunting, especially when you feel like you are being pulled into so many different roles, but the sooner you start, the sooner you can begin on the path to finding balance.
I look forward to meeting all the new entrepreneurs at IAGB. IAGB also helps me to sell my product to lots of new people from different locations.
Hello!
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible power of resilience, ambition, and community—values that have shaped my journey as a woman, an entrepreneur, and an immigrant.
Let me introduce myself—I’m Radhika Rasne. My hometown is Satara, Maharashtra, a beautiful place nestled between rolling hills. Growing up there was an enriching experience, filled with deep-rooted traditions and entrepreneurial spirit. I moved to the U.S. in 2000, and in 2001, Boston became our home. Over the years, I’ve built a life here—raising a family, making lifelong friends, and balancing a career in IT with my passion for business.
As many of us do, I found myself drawn toward entrepreneurship, inspired by my upbringing. The turning point came during a visit to India just before the pandemic. My father and brother always encouraged me to start a business in the U.S., and before I knew it, my first shipment of beautiful brass idols and home décor had arrived. I was eager to begin, debuting at a wedding expo in Burlington—only for the world to shut down soon after.
With no local events and everyone staying home, I turned my attention to online sales. My Etsy shop started slow—waiting for that first order was painstaking—but soon, confidence replaced doubt. Fast forward to today, and our business has grown exponentially, with glowing customer reviews and a thriving local presence. Thanks to my friends and well wishers like you spreading the word. All along the support and encouragement from my husband and kids is tremendous. Today, we stock over 250 unique items, blending heritage with modern convenience.
**And now, on this special occasion, I’m thrilled to announce the next milestone—**the launch of my very own website, TheGoldenHeritage.com!
My dream is to share the beauty of traditional Indian craftsmanship, with a special focus on handmade brass idols, home décor and ethnic wear. But beyond business, this is about something greater—supporting local Indian artisans and giving back to those in need. Because when women uplift one another, communities thrive.
On International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the strength, perseverance, and achievements of women everywhere. To all the women entrepreneurs, professionals, caregivers, and dreamers—you inspire me, and I hope my journey reminds you that every challenge is an opportunity in disguise.
A heartfelt thank you to IAGB for giving me this platform to share my story. Here’s to empowering each other and honoring our heritage!
Happy International Women’s Day!
Radhika Rasne
I own Treasury Restaurant, an upscale Indian dining establishment in Burlington, MA, created to fulfill the local need for a high-quality Indian dining experience. For me, food is much more than sustenance; it’s a way to bring people together. Seeing guests immerse themselves in the flavors and ambiance we’ve carefully crafted is immensely rewarding and fuels my passion every day. Of course, the restaurant industry comes with its share of challenges, but I overcome them by focusing on practical solutions rather than getting bogged down by stress. Working alongside my husband and relying on a dedicated team helps me maintain a balance between personal and professional responsibilities, ensuring that both aspects of my life thrive.
As a woman in this field, I bring empathy, resilience, and an ability to multitask that allows me to create a welcoming environment for both our guests and my staff. Watching people connect over a shared meal in such an atmosphere brings immense joy and motivates me to keep striving. For anyone aspiring to step into the ever-changing restaurant industry, my advice is simple: let your passion guide you, be willing to adapt and learn, and work hard to set yourself apart. There is great fulfillment in doing what you love and knowing that your efforts bring joy to others. It’s this combination of dedication and heartfelt connection that makes this work so meaningful to me.
